anus :U ?AGE 901 <br />request that the county apply for a federal grant on their <br />behalf in the amount of $25,625. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. <br />Almond, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered two road petitions received <br />for Woodbridge Cliffs, Woodbridge Villas and Valley Drive. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., seconded by <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, it was unanimously adopted <br />to forward these petitions to the Department of Transpor- <br />tation for their consideration. <br />County Manager Walter B. Hartman, Jr. presented to the <br />Board an easement to Heins Telephone Company on the county's <br />water system at the Perry Well location. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, seconded by Commissioner <br />Raymond C. Cox, Jr., it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Certificate of Canvass on the recent school bond <br />election was presented and upon motion of Commissioner John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered a donation from Earl Ballinger <br />of a 1.5 caliber tear gas riot gun valued at approximately <br />$200 to the Lee County Sheriff's Department. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, seconded by Commissioner Bertha <br />L. Matthews, it was unanimously adopted to accept this <br />donation. <br />Mr. Donn Gunderson, Social Services Director, appeared <br />before the Board to request that $1,727.00 be appropriated to <br />Crisis Intervention which will be reimbursed 1008 by Carolina <br />Power & Light Company's Energy Assistance funding. Upon <br />motion of Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, seconded by Commis- <br />sioner Bertha L. Matthews, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board was reminded that they are to have dinner at <br />the Agricultural Extension Office prior to their meeting on <br />January 20, 1986. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., invited the Board <br />to attend the next Lions Club meeting on February 6th at 6:30 <br />to hear State Treasurer, Harlan Boyles. <br />It was also noted by the Board that a meeting will be <br />held on January 15th regarding Representative Mavertic's tax <br />proposal to do away with property taxes in the state. <br />Representative Mavretic will be in attendance to respond to <br />questions and concerns regarding his proposal. <br />The Board discussed a letter received from Triangle J <br />Council of Governments regarding "Logo" signs available to be <br />placed along limited access highways. No action was taken. <br />The Board briefly discussed the relocation of morgue <br />facilities from the old hospital to Central Carolina <br />Hospital. <br />
