P 926 <br />ADOk ~ ,.,;c <br />WHEREAS, the Triangle Land Conservancy wishes to <br />purchase the White Pines Natural Area located at the confluence <br />of the Deep and Rocky Rivers to manage as a nature preserve; and <br />WHEREAS, the White Pines Natural Area is a site of great <br />biological as well as an asthetical significant area;and <br />WHEREAS, unique natural areas in the Piedmont are rare <br />and increasingly threatened by rapid urbanization in the central part <br />of the state; and <br />WHEREAS, the preservation of the White Pines Natural Area <br />would inure great benefit to the citizens of this region; <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Commissioners offer <br />their endorsement of this worthy project and encourage all citizens to <br />lend their support to the Triangle Land Conservancy and the estab- <br />lishment of the White Pines Natural Area. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board had received one petition requesting repairs and maintenance <br />on Waverly Road, Amhurst Road, Wilmont Road and Sylvan Court. The petition <br />was referred to the Planning Board for its consideration and recommendation <br />in accordance with the Board's policy. <br />There was a discussion about Countywide zoning but no formal action was <br />taken. <br />The refunds and releases with respect to taxes as listed by the County <br />Tax Supervisor were approved and ordered paid upon motion of Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond, which motion was seconded by Commissioner John R. Doss- <br />enbach, Jr. , and unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The Grant Administrator's office presented two change orders for Blue <br />Construction Company on the lower Moncure and Riddle Road water line, copies <br />of which are attached. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the <br />change orders be approved. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered the notice given to the occupants of the Wilrik <br />Building to vacate the premises by March 15, 1986. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond, it was RESOLVED to allow the present renters to retain their <br />
