who desired a reduction in the budget, as presented, to come forward and state <br />their views. Messrs. Clyde Rhyne, W. L. Lewis, O. A. Keller, Jr., and <br />Albert Adcock, all spoke in opposition to the budget and asked that the proposed <br />increase be reduced or eliminated. After all who desired a reduction in the <br />budget had been heard, the Chairman opened the floor for those who wished an <br />increase in the budget. Superintendent William Johnson appeared and spoke on <br />behalf of the Board of Education and requested an additional $400, 000. 00 of funds. <br />Mr. Bobby Powell, a member of the Board of Education, also spoke in favor of <br />an increase. After all who desired an increase had been heard, Chairman asked <br />for further comments and there were none. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />moved that the public hearing be closed. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board then considered the draft of the minutes of the regular meeting <br />held on Monday, June 2, 1986. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved <br />that the draft be adopted as the official minutes of said meeting and that they be <br />recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, on behalf of the General Government <br />Committee, moved that the Board endorse a proclamation proclaiming July as <br />"National Recreation and Parks Month", and endorsement of the "Life, Be In It" <br />campaign. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews reviewed the activities of the Human <br />Resources Commission and moved on behalf of the committee that the contract <br />for mail issuance of feed stamps for the Department of Social Services, be <br />awarded to Cost Containment, Inc. , effective July 1, 1986, and that the Chairman <br />be authorized to sign the contract and all related documentation. Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, reported on the activities of the <br />Public Works Committee. Commissioner Dossenbach, on behalf of the Committea, <br />moved that a San-Lee Heights Community Committee be formed consisting of two <br />or three leaders from the community and that the committee be headed by the <br />County's Grants Administrator. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond gave a report on the activities of the <br />Finance Committee to the Board. Commissioner Almond moved that a $50.00 <br />donation from Blue Bell, Inc., be accepted as a gift to the Lee County Ambulance <br />Service. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion. Upon a vote, <br />the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />
