gcu;, 12 21 <br />16 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />9 II <br />It 11 - It Monday, July 28th, 1986 <br />The special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 2:30 o'clock p.m., on Monday, <br />July 28, 1986, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, the same being the <br />time, date and place specified in the call of the meeting. Those present were <br />Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr. , John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. The Chairman declared a <br />quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. <br />Mr. John Hall, County Extension Chairman, appeared before the Board <br />and presented Ms. Donna S. Thompson, an applicant for the position of Assistant <br />Home Agent. The Board conferred with Ms. Thompson and Mr. Hall, following <br />which Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. moved that the Board approve the <br />appointment of Ms. Thompson as Assistant Home Agent, effective October 1, <br />1986. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Ms. Barbara Darr appeared before the Board and presented the petition <br />requesting a change of the speed limits in Clearwater Forest Subdivision. Comm- <br />issioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr, moved that the Board notify the Department of <br />Transportation of the petition and also that the Sheriff be advised of the situation <br />and requested to patrol the area. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Ms. Gail McGinty presented documents concerning the Shearon Harris <br />Neuclear Plant, on behalf of the Coalition For An Alternative to Shearon Harris, <br />and requested the Board to consider and act upon said documents. <br />The draft of the minutes of the special meeting held on June 30, 1986, were <br />considered and reviewed. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the draft <br />be adopted as the official minutes of said meeting and that they be recorded. <br />• Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
