p_t tr ,tr:c 44 <br />The Chairman recognized Commissioner Jerry M. Almond who reviewed <br />the meeting held by the Finance Committee. In keeping with the Finance <br />Committee's recommendations, Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the <br />proposed list of potential foreclosures as submitted by the Tax Collector be <br />approved and that the Tax Collector be authorized to begin in - rem_ proceedings. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. In keeping with the Finance Committee's recommendations, <br />Commissioner Almond moved that the Board accept a $4, 000. 00 grant to the <br />Youth Services from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation; that the Board accept a <br />$13, 500.00 Justices Assistance Grant to the Youth Services from the Governor's <br />Crime Commission; and that the Board accept a Community Based Alternatives <br />Expansion Fund Grant from the State of approximately $7, 000. 00, and that an <br />appropriation be authorized for the local match of approximately 30% in order to <br />obtain the CBA Grant Fund, and that the Chairman be authorized and empowered <br />to execute the necessary documents to obtain the three Youth Services Grants. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman recognized Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews who re- <br />ported on the Human Resources Committee. Commissioner Matthews reported <br />that the Human Resources Committee had reviewed and approved the rosters of <br />the Cape Fear and Deep River Fire Departments and recommended that the full <br />Board approve and certify the rosters. She made such motion for approval and <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion. Upon a vote, the <br />motion was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Matthews reported that the <br />committee had reviewed the Department of Aging contracts and agreements <br />pertaining to the job training partnership grants and the nutrition programs <br />with the Triangle J Council of Governments and recommended that they be <br />approved and the Chairman authorized to execute and deliver the necessary <br />documents to carry out such grant. Upon her motion for approval, Comm- <br />issioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion and the Board unanimously <br />adopted the resolution. <br />The Chairman recognized Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., for a <br />report of the General Government Committee. Commissioner Cox reported <br />that the General Government Commission recommended the adoption of the <br />resolution endorsing the establishment of a direct flight from Raleigh Durham <br />Airport to London, in keeping with the action taken by the Triangle J Council <br />of Governments. Commissioner Cox moved the adoption of the resolution. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. Commissioner Cox reported that the General Government <br />Committee recommended that the entire segment of the Cape Fear river border- <br />ing Lee County be designated as a state river trail, as recommended by the <br />Lee County Parks and Recreation Commission. Commissioner Cox moved the <br />approval of said recommendation and such motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond and unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />
