g;n 1243 <br />Commissioner Dossenbach, in accordance with the recommendations <br />of the Public Works Committee, moved that the final plat of the Wayside <br />Subdivision be approved. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach, in accordance with the recommendations <br />of the Public Works Committee, moved that the petition requesting that the <br />widening and resurfacing of Cedar Lane Road be approved and that the Board <br />adopt the standard Department of Transportation resolution requesting such work <br />be done. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach, in accordance with the recommendations of <br />the Public Works Committee, moved that the petition requesting that Secondary <br />Road 1186, the Bailey Thomas Road, be paved, be approved and that the Board <br />adopt the standard Department of Transportation resolution requesting such work <br />be done. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach brought up for discussion, the County's <br />building program. After a general discussion, Commissioner Dossenbach moved <br />that the Board re-affirm its intention to prepare the County Office Building for <br />use by first fixing temporary quarters for the County Agencies at the old Hospital <br />Building and for permanent quarters for the Health Department at the Hospital <br />and then making permanent improvements to the County Office Building. Comm- <br />issioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman announced that the time for holding the public hearing <br />on the question of whether or not to levy a y additional local sales and use <br />tax, had been reached. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that <br />the Board proceed to hold the public hearing. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, <br />Jr, seconded the motion and upon a vote the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman announced that the Board would be glad to hear from any one <br />who wished to be heard concerning the subject of the additional 1~ sales tax. <br />No one asked to be recognized. The Board, to afford persons an opportunity <br />to speak and also to explain the effect of recent legislation, reviewed the changes <br />recently adopted by the General Assembly and the resulting loss of revenue that <br />it would mean to the County. When it was apparent that no one would seek <br />recognition to speak, Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the <br />hearing be closed. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. No formal action was taken by the <br />Board with respect to the tax at this time. <br />
