r 12 Pncf MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA „ x Monday, September 22, 1986 J The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 o'clock p.m., on Monday, September 22, 1986, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. Chair- man John E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond. The draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, September 8, 1986, were considered by the Board. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved that the draft of the minutes be adopted as the official minutes of said meeting and same be recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The Chair recognized Mr. Don McLaughlin of the County Parks and Recreation Department. Mr. McLaughlin introduced representatives of the Parks and Recreation Society who in turn had one of their representatives present plaques to Representative Dennis Wicker and Senator William W. Staton for assistance rendered to the Parks and Recreation program in their capacity as members of the General Assembly. Chairman Dotterer, on behalf of the Board, stated that they recognized the contribution made by Representative Wicker and Senator Staten and applauded their efforts in behalf of the Parks and Recreation Program. Mr. McLaughlin then made a presentation on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Commission, recognizing Representative Wicker and Senator Staton for their efforts in obtaining a $10, 000. 00 grant for a picnic shelter at Horton Park. Representative Wicker accepted the presentation and made a few remarks. Senator Staten was at a meeting in Raleigh and could not attend. The Chairman next recognized the outgoing Board and Commission members who had been replaced when the Board of Commissioners made their appointments near the beginning of the fiscal year. Among those present and receiving plaques were: Messrs. Bob Jones, Melvin Phillips, Fred Garner, Jr., John McPhaul and Jeff Ward; and Mesdames Margaret Ascough, Margaret Murchison and Jane Barringer. i.
