r <br />12 Pncf <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />„ x <br />Monday, September 22, 1986 <br />J The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 o'clock p.m., on Monday, <br />September 22, 1986, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those <br />present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr., <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. Chair- <br />man John E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond. <br />The draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, September <br />8, 1986, were considered by the Board. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved <br />that the draft of the minutes be adopted as the official minutes of said meeting and <br />same be recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chair recognized Mr. Don McLaughlin of the County Parks and <br />Recreation Department. Mr. McLaughlin introduced representatives of the <br />Parks and Recreation Society who in turn had one of their representatives <br />present plaques to Representative Dennis Wicker and Senator William W. Staton for <br />assistance rendered to the Parks and Recreation program in their capacity as <br />members of the General Assembly. Chairman Dotterer, on behalf of the Board, <br />stated that they recognized the contribution made by Representative Wicker and <br />Senator Staten and applauded their efforts in behalf of the Parks and Recreation <br />Program. Mr. McLaughlin then made a presentation on behalf of the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission, recognizing Representative Wicker and Senator Staton <br />for their efforts in obtaining a $10, 000. 00 grant for a picnic shelter at Horton <br />Park. Representative Wicker accepted the presentation and made a few remarks. <br />Senator Staten was at a meeting in Raleigh and could not attend. <br />The Chairman next recognized the outgoing Board and Commission members <br />who had been replaced when the Board of Commissioners made their appointments <br />near the beginning of the fiscal year. Among those present and receiving plaques <br />were: Messrs. Bob Jones, Melvin Phillips, Fred Garner, Jr., John McPhaul and <br />Jeff Ward; and Mesdames Margaret Ascough, Margaret Murchison and Jane <br />Barringer. i. <br />
