J9 58 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD <br />OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE <br />/ OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, October 6th, 1986 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9;30 o'clock a, m. , on Monday, <br />October 6, 1986, in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those <br />present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, Raymond C. Cox, Jr. , John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer and Bertha L. Matthews. Chairman <br />John E. Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, Septem- <br />ber 22, 1986, were considered by the Board. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />moved that the draft of the minutes be adopted as the official minutes of said <br />meeting and same be recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., was recognized for a report on <br />the activities of the General Government Committee. Commissioner Cox, on <br />behalf of that committee, brought up for discussion and consideration, a Reso- <br />lution concerning a proposed Alamance County Landfill. The matter was dis- <br />cussed but no formal action was taken. Commissioner Cox, on behalf of the <br />committee, recommended that theweek of October 5 through 11, 1986, be <br />declared Fire Prevention Week in Lee County. Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Jerry M. Almond was recognized to give the report of <br />the Finance Committee. Commissioner Almond, on behalf of the Finance <br />Committee, moved that the order empowering the Tax Collector to collect the <br />current year's taxes be adopted and the Chairman be authorized to execute <br />the order for and on behalf of the Board. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next discussed the matter of garnishment on small accounts, <br />but no formal action was taken. <br />
