12 1'78 <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, and Mrs. Wilma Winstead, <br />Chairman of the Planning Board, appeared before the Board and the preliminary <br />report of the Lee County Planning Board Subcommittees on land use goals and <br />objectives. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY <br />FOR LEE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, The County of Lee desires provisions for <br />an additional source of water for its public water system to <br />insure the continued economic growth of Lee County, which <br />will benefit all of the citizens of Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, the most feasible source for this water <br />supply is the Deep River near the Cumnock community; and <br />WHEREAS, it will be necessary to file a petition with <br />the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and <br />Community Development, Division of Environmental Management <br />to classify this source location as a public water supply, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the LEE <br />COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS: <br />SECTION 1. That Lee County file the appropriate <br />petition with the N. C. Department of Natural Resources and <br />Community Development, Division of Environmental Management, <br />for the purpose of classifying the Deep River at Cumnock, Lee <br />County, North Carolina, as a public water supply. <br />SECTION 2. That James W. Mills, Sr., County Manager, <br />is granted authority to sign all documents associated with said <br />petition. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the Motion and upon <br />a note it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman recognized Chris Frye who was attending the meeting as <br />a part of an eagle scout project. <br />Mr. Bobby Johnson presented a tabulation of the bids received for <br />a 15 yard scraper, which were as follows: <br />
