V fA9 177 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, April 21, 1987 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />J of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina, on Monday, April 21, 1987, at 7:00 o'clock P. M. Those present were <br />Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr. ; John R. Dossenbach, Jr. ; John E. Dotterer; <br />Bertha L. Matthews; and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum <br />present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the draft of the <br />minutes of the regular meeting held on April 6, 1987, which was submitted to the <br />Board with the Agenda for this meeting, be adopted as the official minutes for such <br />meeting. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. , seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />In reviewing the minutes, the Board took note of its recognition of <br />the illness of Mr. Ed Upchurch. It was noted that Mr. Upchurch had died and the <br />Board mourned his passing and directed that such be recorded.in the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot appeared before the Board and presented a <br />petition from residents on Minter Avenue and Alpine Drive requesting that the <br />Division of Highways take over these roads for maintenance. The Planning Board <br />had reviewed the Petition and recommended approval. Commissioner Raymond C. <br />Cox, Jr. moved that the standard resolution recommending addition to the state <br />system be adopted as to these roads. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. <br />Seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before the Board <br />and presented the preliminary plat of Suburban Acres for review. Mr. Barefoot <br />reviewed the requirements which had been incorporated in the Planning Board's <br />approval. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the preliminary <br />plat of the subdivision be approved on the same basis as the Planning Board had <br />approved it. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote, the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />
