3oos 12 WIE BE. <br />WHEREAS, the work of the EDUCATOR immeasurably affects <br />the future lives of all students; and <br />WHEREAS, the EDUCATOR deserves the deepest respect and <br />admiration of the citizens of this community: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the LEE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS hereby proclaim May 5, 1987, " EDUCATOR'S <br />DAY" for the purpose of providing public recognition and appreciation for <br />the dedication and contributions of the EDUCATOR, not only to this <br />community as a whole, but to each of us as individual citizens. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote, the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />County Manager Mills reported that because of equipment and changes in <br />the corporate structure it would take approximately fourteen months to have the <br />911 emergency numbers installed in the local phone system. <br />County Manager Mills reported on the matter of having a Board of <br />Equalization and Review made up of members who are not on the Board of <br />Commissioners and distributed copies of the applicable statutes. <br />The Board expressed its support for a program to help rehabilitate <br />children who have been the victims of crime at the recommendation of Commissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews. <br />The Board directed that a visit to the County Jail be included in the <br />agenda for its next daytime meeting. <br />The Chairman advised the Board they were invited to visit the Airport and <br />each member would be called and reminded of the meeting. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported on a meeting of the Bicentennial <br />Committee and interested members were urged to attend. <br />The Board recommended that the Library work out some use of its <br />facilities for Congressman Lancaster. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, the meeting was <br />adjourned sine die.
