Cox, Jr. , seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote, the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />County Manager Jim Mills presented for consideration an amendment to <br />the contract between Region "M'' Service Delivery Area and Lee County Department <br />of Aging which puts an additional $1, 000. 00 in the Respite Care Program. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. , moved that the Amendment be approved and <br />the appropriate County officials be authorized to execute and deliver said instrument. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the following proclamation <br />on Educators Day be approved and that the Chair be authorized to sign and issue same: <br />WHEREAS, America's greatest strength has always been an <br />educated citizenry; and <br />WHEREAS, that educated citizenry is directly attributable to <br />our system of free and universal education that provides an educational <br />opportunity for all students; and <br />WHEREAS, the foundation upon which that system of public <br />schooling rests is the EDUCATOR; and <br />WHEREAS, the EDUCATOR is challenged daily to reach out <br />to every student- regardless of ability, interest in learning, social or <br />economic background, physical, mental, or emotional handicap, race, <br />religion, creed, or ethnic origin- to provide the assistance and guidance <br />necessary for full intellectual development; and <br />WHEREAS, the EDUCATOR is a key to the intellectual and <br />occupational preparation of individual citizens, who, collectively, <br />determine the quality of life in America and in this community; and <br />
