Laos 12 'rr„F 18F <br />T. J <br />assist runaway and homeless youth and their families, and <br />WHEREAS, the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act, which is <br />administered by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services <br />and has almost $7-million for new grants for basic centers to provide <br />funds to establish or strengthen community-based centers that address <br />the needs of runaway and homeless youth and their families; and <br />WHEREAS, local units of governments may apply for up to <br />$200, 000, in assistance to support programs; and <br />WHEREAS, a 10 per cent local match is required; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, THAT: <br />1. The Lee County Youth Services be designated as the organizational <br />unit to administer the proposed Lee County Runaway and Homeless Youth <br />Center Program. <br />2. Lee County provide the 10 per cent local match required for <br />the project during Year One (1) the sum of $11, 000. <br />3. Lee County submit an application to the U. S. Department of <br />Health and Human Services to fund the establishment of a Lee County <br />Runaway and Homeless Youth Center ($100, 000, per year/three (3) year <br />program). <br />4. John E. Dotterer, Chairman of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners execute the application and all relevant documents as <br />the County's authorized representative. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote, <br />the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the Board and <br />reported on the bids received on the rehabilitation of ten homes in the San-Lee Heights <br />area. Mr. Buchanan reported that four bids were rejected because they exceeded <br />the estimated costs. These will be rebid for consideration at a later time. Six <br />of the bids were within the budget and were acceptable. Mr. Buchanan reported that <br />City Rehabilitation Services, Inc. , had reviewed the bids and recommended approval. <br />Commissioner John R.
