0 <br />300 12 EASE 191 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />May 26, 1987 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina convened in the Commissioners' Room <br />on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, <br />North Carolina, on Monday, May 26, 1987, at 4:00 o'clock P. M. as stated in <br />the motion of adjournment. Those present were: Commissioners Raymond C. <br />Cox, Jr. , John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , John E. Dotterer and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />The Chairman declared a quorum was present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the Board hold <br />a public hearing pertaining to the NRCD Community Development Economic <br />Grant. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. , seconded the motion, and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, was recognized and <br />explained that the grant would be used for the construction of a water tank in the <br />northern part of the county to serve the industrial site being made by Golden <br />Poultry and the existing county water system. <br />Mr. John Stokes was recognized. Mr. Stokes objected to having two public <br />hearings on the same date. Following Mr. Stokes, the Board called upon Mr. Skip <br />Greene of the firm of Skip Greene & Associates, Raleigh, N. C. , who explained <br />the difference between the comprehensive grant program and the economic grant <br />program. During Mr. Greene's remarks, Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews <br />joined the meeting and participated in the further deliberations of the board. <br />Mayor Rex McLeod was recognized and Mr. McLeod asked that in the <br />installation of the water tank that the work be done in such manner that it would <br />be compatible with the City of Sanford system so that in future years merger <br />might be possible. After everyone was given an opportunity to speak, Commissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews moved that the public hearing be closed, Commissioner John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
