1yy ' <br />roe. <br />gooK 12 194 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 1, 1987 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the <br />commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on <br />Monday, June 1, 1987, at 9:30 o'clock a.m. Those present <br />were Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews, and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the <br />meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Manager Jim Mills. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, and Mr. Larry <br />Varner of Floyd Browne & Associates, appeared before the <br />Board to present a proposed agreement with Floyd Browne & <br />Associates for the construction of a 1.5 MGD water plant in <br />the Cumnock Community of Lee County. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the <br />agreement be approved, which motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., and upon a vote was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, also presented <br />a water purchase contract between the county and Golden <br />Poultry Company. After much discussion, Commissioner John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the contract be approved, which <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. and <br />upon a vote was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., moved that the draft <br />of the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 18, 1987, <br />and the minutes of the adjourned meeting held on May 26, <br />1987, which were submitted to the Board with the agenda for <br />this meeting, be adopted as the official minutes for such <br />meetings. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Alvin Kilby appeared before the Board to present <br />information regarding the U.S. Olympic Festival Torch Run <br />which will pass through Sanford and Lee County on Saturday, <br />July 4, 1987. Mr. Kilby informed the Board of the various <br />activities scheduled totake place and also reported on the <br />route which the torch run will take as it passes through Lee <br />County. <br />
