1yy ' roe. gooK 12 194 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA Monday, June 1, 1987 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, June 1, 1987, at 9:30 o'clock a.m. Those present were Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr., John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews, and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by County Manager Jim Mills. Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, and Mr. Larry Varner of Floyd Browne & Associates, appeared before the Board to present a proposed agreement with Floyd Browne & Associates for the construction of a 1.5 MGD water plant in the Cumnock Community of Lee County. After some discussion, Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the agreement be approved, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, also presented a water purchase contract between the county and Golden Poultry Company. After much discussion, Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the contract be approved, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., moved that the draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 18, 1987, and the minutes of the adjourned meeting held on May 26, 1987, which were submitted to the Board with the agenda for this meeting, be adopted as the official minutes for such meetings. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote the motion was unanimously adopted. Mr. Alvin Kilby appeared before the Board to present information regarding the U.S. Olympic Festival Torch Run which will pass through Sanford and Lee County on Saturday, July 4, 1987. Mr. Kilby informed the Board of the various activities scheduled totake place and also reported on the route which the torch run will take as it passes through Lee County.
