^"c <br />BOGS 12 251 <br />` <br />The Chairman declared the motion had been unanimously <br />adopted. The resolution is as follows: <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners has learned with deep regret of the death of <br />Mrs. Wanda K. Thomas, the Lee County Register of Deeds; and <br />WHEREAS, Mrs, Wanda K. Thomas did give untiring <br />public 'service to her County, State and Nation during her lifetime; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that her name <br />be entered on ,`.he rolls of those who have 'gone from our midst in <br />this Association year so that she may be remembered at the next <br />Annual Conference thereof: and <br />FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that a copy of'this <br />Resolution be'forwarded to the family of Wanda K; Thomas with <br />the expressed sympathy of the members of this Association. <br />The Chairman advised the Board that it had the authority to fill <br />the vacancy in the office of the Register of Deeds pursuant to North Carolina <br />General Statute 161-5, and asked the pleasure of the Board. Commissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews moved that Mrs. Nellie W. Thomas be appointed Register of <br />Deeds for Lee County to hold office for the unexpired tern and until her successor <br />is elected and qualifies. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , 'seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY None <br />The Chairman declared the motion had been-adopted unanimously <br />and Mrs. Thomas bad been duly appointed Register of Deeds. <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. Bobby Johnson, Vehicle Maintenance <br />Supervisor who presented a list of vehicles which he considered to be excess to <br />the County's needs. Commissioner. Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the County <br />of Lee desires to dispose of certain' surplus property of the County; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the Board <br />of Commissioners that: <br />1. The following described property is hereby declared <br />
