12 . ,r, sz5 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />/ THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1987 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee <br />convened in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, <br />200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, October 19, 1987, at 7:00 <br />o'clock P. M. Those present were: Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr.; John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr.; John E. Dotterer; Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. The <br />Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />transacted: <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />The invocation was given by K. R. Hoyle, Clerk to the Board. <br />The drafts of the minutes of the regular meeting held on October 5, 1987, <br />and of the adjourned regular meeting held on October 6, 1987, were reviewed and a <br />correction made in the draft of the minutes of the adjourned regular meeting. After <br />the correction had been made, Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the drafts <br />be adopted as the official minutes and be recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer. <br />NAY: None. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman announced that the time for the public hearing on re- <br />enactment of local sales taxes had arrived. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., moved that <br />the Board proceed to hold a public hearing on the question of whether or not it was <br />desirable or necessary to enact the Local Government Sales and Use`Tax to adequately <br />finance the operation of the County and the municipalities within the County. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer. <br />NAY: None. <br />
