12 . ,r, sz5 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR / THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1987 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, October 19, 1987, at 7:00 o'clock P. M. Those present were: Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr.; John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; John E. Dotterer; Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. transacted: Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was The invocation was given by K. R. Hoyle, Clerk to the Board. The drafts of the minutes of the regular meeting held on October 5, 1987, and of the adjourned regular meeting held on October 6, 1987, were reviewed and a correction made in the draft of the minutes of the adjourned regular meeting. After the correction had been made, Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the drafts be adopted as the official minutes and be recorded. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox seconded the motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer. NAY: None. The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. The Chairman announced that the time for the public hearing on re- enactment of local sales taxes had arrived. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., moved that the Board proceed to hold a public hearing on the question of whether or not it was desirable or necessary to enact the Local Government Sales and Use`Tax to adequately finance the operation of the County and the municipalities within the County. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer. NAY: None.
