Mr. Kinney stated that the electrical distribution system on the top <br />two floors appeared to have been improperly done and the system will have to be <br />re-engineered. He invited the members of the board to meet with him on Wednesday <br />of this week to tour the building and observe the matters discussed in his report. <br />Mr. C. Millard Stallings, one of the partners who purchased the Carolina <br />Hotel property appeared before the Board and discussed his request for relief from <br />taxes for the year 1987 on the grounds that he bought the property for less than its <br />tax valuation. The Board took the matter under consideration but took no formal action <br />at this meeting. <br />Mr. Bobby Johnson, Superintendent of the landfill appeared before the board <br />and reported on the sale of a surplus vehicle and reported that the bids were received <br />as follows: <br />Mr. Ernest Dalrymple, $1,178. 00 <br />Mr. Aubrey W. Cox $1, 203. <br />Mr. Johnson recommended the Board accept thexhigh bid. Commissioner John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr, moved that the high bid of Mr. ubrey W. Cox for the surplus <br />vehicle advertised for sale on October 27th, 1987, be accepted. Commissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />Superintendent Bobby Johnson appeared before the Board and reported that <br />a person or persons had broken and entered into the landfill and stolen property and <br />torn down doors and gates for a total damage in the amount of $17, 000. 00. The <br />matter was discussed at length following which Commissioner John R. Dossenbach <br />moved that the county offer a reward of $2, 000 for information leading to the arrest <br />and conviction of the person who committed vandalism at the Lee County landfill on <br />Monday night, October 26, 1987. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously carried. <br />
