;gin{ 12 ~:t~~ 33€ <br />MINU TES OF THE A DJOU RNED REGU LA R MEE TING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1988 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina, on Monday, February 22nd, 1988, at 7:00 P. M. , the same being <br />the time, date and place specified in the motion of adjournment. Those <br />present were: Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr. , John R. Dossenbach, Jr. <br />John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker, The Chairman <br />declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E, Dotterer presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Sheriff's Deputy James Estes, <br />The Chairman made a statement about the needs for a new jail <br />and changes at the courthouse. <br />Sheriff Billy Bryant appeared before the Board and spoke of the <br />needs for jail facilities. Mrs. Lucille H. York, Clerk of Superior Court, <br />appeared before the Board and spoke about the needs for court facilities. Mrs. <br />Lane, a former foreperson of the Grand Jury appeared before the Board and <br />read a portion of her Grand Jury's report about the need for jail facilities. <br />Messrs, Jimmy L. Love, Michael Stephenson, William Wilson and K. R. Hoyle <br />each spoke about the need for courthouse facilities as members of the local bar. <br />Judge William A. Christian spoke about the need for court facilities. Jail <br />Inspector Ritter spoke to the Board and urged that they give consideration to <br />making jail improvements. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr„ moved that the County <br />Manager arrange for interviews with architects with a view to planning jail and <br />
