BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Division of Highways of the Department of Transportation proceed with these projects as far as the Secondary Road Allocations for Fiscal Year 1988 -89 will allow. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, seconded the motion, and upon a vote the results were as follows: AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer NAY: None The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. The representatives of the Department of Transportation advised the Board of a meeting to be held at Richmond Technical Institute on April 21, 1988, about major projects. Mr. Travis Phillips, Building Inspector, appeared before the Board and presented for their consideration a Proclamation on Building Safety Week. The proclamation is as follows: WHEREAS, the safety of our citizens is always of primary concern to the Lee County Board of Commissioners; and WHEREAS, the wide variety of health and safety services provided by the Building Code Departments of Lee County and the nation dramatically assists in providing safe work places, recreational areas, and homes to our citizens; and WHEREAS, we recognize their combined efforts to make buildingssafe; and WHEREAS, the week of April 10, 1988 through April 16, 1988 has been declared National Building Safety Week by the nation and the State of North Carolina; and WHEREAS, we support building safety in all buildings; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the week of April 10, 1988 through April 16, 1988 is hereby designated Building Safety Week. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the Proclamation declaring the week of April 20, 1988 through April 16, 1988, as Building Safety Week be approved and the Chairman be authorized to issue same for and on behalf of the Board.
