Wicker seconded the motion, and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted and <br />the destruction of the records was authorized. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Chairman be authorized <br />and directed to issue the following Proclamation with respect to Flag Day: <br />FLAG DAY 1988 <br />WHEREAS, the American Flag is recognized throughout the world as a <br />symbol of freedom; and <br />WHEREAS, thousands of American men and women have sacrificed their <br />lives in battle to maintain this country as a land of freedom and opportunity; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is proper for every American citizen to hold in reference <br />and honor the American Flag as the emblem of our Country and in patriotic <br />memory of those persons who have died to protect our Country's freedom; and <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we show our pride of our Country by <br />displaying the American Flag at our homes and throughout our community; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that June 11, 1988, be recognized <br />in Lee County as "Flag Day" and every citizen of Lee County is called upon to <br />participate in the special activities of this day and to proudly display the <br />American Flag in their neighborhood. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled that the resolution had been unanimously adopted <br />and executed the Proclamation. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot appeared before the Board and presented the <br />budget request with respect to the Planning and Inspection Department. <br />
