Wicker seconded the motion, and upon a vote the results were as follows: AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer NAY: None The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted and the destruction of the records was authorized. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Chairman be authorized and directed to issue the following Proclamation with respect to Flag Day: FLAG DAY 1988 WHEREAS, the American Flag is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of freedom; and WHEREAS, thousands of American men and women have sacrificed their lives in battle to maintain this country as a land of freedom and opportunity; and WHEREAS, it is proper for every American citizen to hold in reference and honor the American Flag as the emblem of our Country and in patriotic memory of those persons who have died to protect our Country's freedom; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we show our pride of our Country by displaying the American Flag at our homes and throughout our community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that June 11, 1988, be recognized in Lee County as "Flag Day" and every citizen of Lee County is called upon to participate in the special activities of this day and to proudly display the American Flag in their neighborhood. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer NAY: None The Chairman ruled that the resolution had been unanimously adopted and executed the Proclamation. Mr. Leonard Barefoot appeared before the Board and presented the budget request with respect to the Planning and Inspection Department.
