fL~ rc <br />oos 12*`fkcE 460® <br />The Board then resumed its consideration of the budget for the coming <br />fiscal year and consultation with the County Manager and Finance Officer. <br />During the Board's deliberations, Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Director, sought <br />recognition and was recognized by the Chairman. Mr. Buchanan reported that he <br />had been in contact with Representative Dennis Wicker by telephone and that the <br />House Committee had approved legislation which would materially help the County <br />in its efforts to prevent the location of a hazardous waste site in Lee County. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, '`Tr. moved that the Board go on record <br />as expressing its appreciation to Representative Wicker for his hard work in <br />behalf of the County in fighting the location of a hazardous waste site in Lee County. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion, and upon a vote the results <br />were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman declared the Resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan reported that the City of Sanford had received bids <br />on extending an 8" sewer line to the Weber industrial site. Mr. Buchanan reported <br />that Larry Thomas, Public Works Director, had received low bid of W. M. Nixon <br />in the amount of $45, 905. 00; that the City of Sanford had spent $1, 430 on clearing <br />the property and $100 for the permit processing fee sent to the State, for a total <br />project cost of $47, 435. 00. Mr. Buchanan reported that the City was requesting <br />that the County appropriate $5, 000 to assist in the project and to allow the <br />construction to begin. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr, moved the adoption <br />of the following Resolution: <br />BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County Board of Commissioners, <br />at its regular session assembled, approve the adoption of the following <br />allocation of funds: <br />SECTION 1. The amount of Five thousand and no/100 <br />Dollars ($5, 000. 00) being Lee County's proportionate part of the <br />cost of $47, 435. 00 to extend the sewer from the new expanded <br />additions to Weber USA 8-inch sewer line from their plant to a <br />contact point where the sewer gravitates to the City of Sanford's <br />waste disposal plant. <br />SECTION 2. We are attaching bid tabulation as accepted <br />and let on June 14, 1988, of four companies who presented bids for this <br />sewer line, with the low bid being W. M.
