A 12 P',„r 476 <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan appeared before the Board and gave a <br />written report on activities being supervised by him as Grants <br />Administrator. <br />The County Manager presented a proclamation received from <br />the Lee County Parks and Recreation Commission which they requested <br />the Board to endorse. The proclamation is as follows: <br />WHEREAS, positive leisure experiences are vital to good <br />physical and mental health, and enhance the quality of life for all <br />people; <br />WHEREAS, park and recreation programs encompass a <br />multitude of activities that can result in personal accomplishment, <br />self-satisfaction and family unity for all citizens, regardless of <br />their background, ability level or age; <br />WHEREAS, the "July is National Recreation and Parks <br />Month" and "Celebrate-Play for America" Campaigns support and promote <br />an exhilarating approach to life through the encouragement of <br />inexpensive park and recreation activities, dedicated to the well <br />being of all Americans; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED THAT Lee County hereby <br />endorses the "July is National Recreation and Parks Month" and <br />"Celebrate-Play for America" campaigns and urges citizens to utilize <br />and enjoy the programs which will be held the month of July <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the Board <br />endorse the proclamation as requested by the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission and the Chairman be authorized to execute said endorsement <br />upon the proclamation as issued by the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled that the Resolution had been <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Upon inquiry from the County Manager, the Board <br />instructed him to notify the architects to appear before the Board at <br />its September 6th, 1988, meeting for further interviews. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. moved that Commmissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews be designated as the voting delegate for <br />Lee County at the meeting of the County Commissioners State <br />
