0 0 <br />BOOK 12 PAGE 471-( <br />environmental policy, educating the public and local officials, per- <br />forming special studies and projects, facilitating citizen participation, <br />maintaining awareness of changes in environmental laws and regulations <br />affecting the County, and promoting State/County, public and private <br />cooperation and coordination; the duties may be changed periodically at <br />the discretion of the Lee County Board of Commissioners; and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the scope of issues the Environmental <br />Affairs Board can examine is wide and includes, but is not limited to, <br />topics such as Hazardous and Radioactive Materials Management and <br />Disposal, Watershed Protection, Groundwater and Surface Water Protection, <br />Erosion Control, Air Quality, Energy Conservation, Incineration, Pollution <br />Prevention, Waste Management, County Beautification, and Recycling; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Environmental Affairs Board shall <br />consist of nine members who represent a broad spectrum of vocations <br />and professions from throughout Lee County; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Environmental Affairs Board <br />shall develop a set of By-Laws which embodies the resolves contained <br />in this resolution to serve as a guide for the board's activities and shall <br />present the By-Laws to the Board of County Commissioners for their <br />approval as soon as they are complete. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the resolution <br />establishing the Environmental Affairs Board as presented to the Board be <br />adopted. Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion, and upon <br />a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Board then considered the nine positions on the Environmental Affairs <br />Board, and Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. suggested that representation <br />from the City of Sanford, Town of Boardway and County should be considered. <br />
