0 0 BOOK 12 PAGE 471 -1 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA MONDAY, JULY 18, 1988 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office Building at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on Monday, July 18, 1988. Those present were Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr. John R. Dossenbach, Jr. ; John E. Dotterer; Bertha L. Matthews; and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by Chairman John E. Dotterer. Mr. Don McLaughlin, Director of the County Parks and Recreation Department, was recognized and he in turn presented Dr. Lynn Smith, Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commissions and Mr. Charles Bowers, a member of the committee and Chairman of its Award Committee. The Parks and Recreation Commission recognized the following persons and organizations and presented them with the awards shown: The Pantry, Inc. , Corporate donor of the year; The Kiwanis Club of Sanford, Civic Club of the Year; Mrs. Jo Wright, Non-Sports Volunteer of the Year; Don Markham, Sports Volunteer of the Year; Maxway, Inc. , Sponsor of the Year; and Annie Laurie Pomeranz, Senior Citizen of the Year. Following the presentation ceremony, Chairman John E. Dotterer commended the recipients on behalf of the Board and commended the Parks and Recreation Commission for recognizing these persons and organizations for their contri- butions.
