e os 12 483 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, September 6, 1988 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, <br />✓ North Carolina, on Tuesday, September 6, 1988, at 9:30 o'clock A. M., <br />Monday, September 5th, having been observed as a holiday. Those present <br />were: Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr.; John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; John E. <br />Dotterer; Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman, John E. <br />Dotterer, declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Jim Mills, County Manager. <br />A draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, <br />August 15, 1988, was reviewed and considered. Commissioner John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the draft be adopted as the official minutes. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer. <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted <br />and ordered the minutes recorded. <br />The Chairman recognized Stephanie Marshall, who is the new <br />reporter from the Sanford Herald who was covering the meeting. <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. Charles M. Grier of the firm of <br />Grier-Frip Associates, Inc. of Charlotte, N. C., and Mr. Grier made a <br />presentation with respect to the proposed jail and courthouse improvements. <br />Mr. William E. Fripp, Jr. was also present and spoke on behalf of the firm. <br />The Chairman next recognized Mr. Ed Fitchett and Mr. Carl Stewart <br />of the firm of Stewart-Fitchett, Architects, of Southern Pines, N. C. <br />These gentlemen also presented their ideas with respect to the jail and <br />courthouse improvements. <br />The Chairman then recognized Mr. Derrell W. Mullins of the firm <br />of Mullins-Sherman Architects. Mr. Mullins had with him representatives <br />from the firm of Carter Gobal Associates, Planners and Beaufort Goff <br />
