?oo~ 12 e;.~~ 5~y <br />would be advantageous if the Sanford water system and the Lee County water <br />system were interconnected, thereby allowing each system to draw on the <br />reserves of the other system; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sanford has recognized that there is a need <br />to expand the water and wastewater treatment capacities of their facilities <br />and to make other improvements to their water and sewer systems; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioner <br />to cooperate fully with the City of Sanford on these matters in order to better <br />serve the citizens of Sanford and Lee County; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board <br />of Commissioners as follows: <br />Section 1. That the interconnection of the Lee County water system <br />with the Sanford water system be authorized, said connection to be made along <br />Cool Springs Road between Highway 421 North and Valley Road at a cost to Lee <br />County not to exceed $140, 000. <br />Section 2. That the Lee County Board of Commissioners give full <br />support to the passage of the water and sewer bond referendums proposed by <br />the City of Sanford on November 8, 1988, in order that Sanford and Lee County <br />may continue to grow and prosper. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />County Manager Jim Mills reported that Mr. Larry Varner, engineer <br />with Floyd Browne Associates would appear at the next meeting of the Board to <br />discuss the capacity of the County wells and how people may attach to the <br />extension of the County water system. <br />The Board took up for consideration a resolution pertaining to the <br />approval of applications for property tax exemptions by the tax assessor. After <br />discussion and review, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of <br />the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 105 of the General Statutes of North Carolina <br />contains specific rules and regulations pertaining to the listing, appraisal, <br />assessment, and collection of taxes on property in North Carolina; and <br />
