, <br />BOOK V nu 534 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />`I MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1988 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' <br />room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, October 17, 1988, at 7:00 <br />o'clock P. M. Those present were: Commissioners Raymond C. Cox, Jr., <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open <br />for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Manager Jim Mills. <br />The draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, <br />October 3, 1988, were considered. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved <br />that the draft be adopted as the official minutes for that meeting. <br />Commissioner Raymond C. Cox, Jr., seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />AYE: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Wicker and Dotterer <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted <br />and ordered the minutes recorded. <br />Dr. William B. Adams, Chairman of the Lee County Board of <br />Health, appeared before the Board pertaining to the matter as to what <br />previous service credit would be allowed Health Department employees. The <br />Health Department employees have been given credit for prior service with <br />the District Health Department of which Lee County was a part , but the <br />employees are requesting that prior public service covered by the State <br />Personnel System be considered with respect to leave time. The matter <br />was discussed at length and the final action was deferred pending a <br />review of the vacation time and sick leave and what effect allowing such <br />service to count would have on other County employees. <br />
