to Commissioners at their November 14` meeting. A second public hearing will be required once the
builders decide on what exactly will be placed on the site and the Board of Commissioners will be
asked to approve a site specific plan at that time.
The Board considered additions /changes to the Agenda. County Manager John Crumpton
asked the Board to consider a matter in reference to the lighting project for the old Courthouse, Jail,
and new Courthouse. Commissioner Hayes moved to approve the agenda as amended. Upon a vote,
the results were as follows:
Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Reives, Shook, and Womack
Nay: None
Absent: Paschal
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
Commissioner Womack asked that the item listed on the Consent Agenda for approval of bids
for the OT Sloan diving pool be removed for discussion. Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Reives, Shook, and Womack
Nay: None
Absent: Paschal
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
General Services Director Russell Spivey discussed bids for the diving pool project pulled from
the Consent Agenda and gave an overview of pool issues that began in 2002. Various repairs have
been made and options were looked at to get the pool ready and running for the summer. The final
part of the renovation project involves removal of the existing filtration pump and installation of a new
15 HP filtration pump, including a new concrete base, associated piping and electrical connections. The
project also involves demolition of the existing skimmers and installation of new skimmers, equalizer
grates, returns, re- pouring of concrete decking and new waterline tile and depth markers. Proposals
were received from the following pool contractors:
Aquatic Resource Group, Charlotte, NC $67,333.00
Gress Inc., New Hill, NC $69,646.00
Southeastern Aquatics, Raleigh, NC $87,950.00
Southern Pools, Charlotte, NC $67,775.00
Paddock Pool Equipment, Rock Hill, SC No Bid
Questions arose from Board members as to whether the dive pool was the drawing board for visitors at
the pool site and would it hurt not to have that pool open for one season. Questions were also received
as to how the county benefits from having the pool. After much discussion, Commissioner Womack
moved to table the matter until the November 14'" meeting and get more specific information and
numbers on how the pool is used. Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Reives, Shook, and Womack
Nay: None
Absent: Paschal
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
