Purpose The Sanford Board of Adjustments shall hear and decide appeals from any review, order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official charged with enforcement of the City Zoning Ordinance. Appointment Authority: The Sanford Board of Adjustments is created under authority of GS 160A -388. (Ordinance 1999 -29 provides that the Board of Adjustment shall consist of six regular members and two alternate members. The Sanford City Council shall appoint from four regular members and one alternate within the Sanford corporate limits. The Lee County Board of Commissioners from with the extra - territorial jurisdiction shall appoint one regular member and one alternate. The appointments shall be for a period of three years. Authority of Board The Board of Adjustment is autonomous, acting in a quasi - judicial manner. Every decision of the board shall be subject to review by Superior Court in the nature of certiorari. Meeting time and location The Sanford Board of Adjustments shall hold such meetings as may be considered necessary by the board. Places and time of meetings will be designated by the chairman /chairperson.
