soon. >4 ,, A05 <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and staff left the meeting to <br />contact the Health Director for his needed attendance at the meeting. <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented the Monthly Financial Report for month ending July <br />31, 2011. No action was taken. <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented his Quarterly Report to the Board which addressed <br />the following items: <br />Upcoming Projects /Bids <br />1. Architect has begun design /specifications for the Courthouse Renovation Projects. <br />Project should bid out in 90 -120 days with construction beginning around the first of <br />February. <br />2. RFP's for Salary /Pay Study are being reviewed and should be ready for the <br />September meeting. <br />3. RFP's for the performance audits for the Board of Education and County <br />Government should be ready for review at the September meeting. <br />46 The Tax Department continues to work on the 2013 revaluation project. <br />Economic Development <br />1. RFP's for the Architect and Engineering services for the Innovation Center <br />(Transmatic Building) and the Industrial Park road improvement project are out for <br />review. These will be presented to the Board at the September meeting. <br />2. Still waiting on determination of the $800,000 grant request from the EDA. The Rural <br />Center has a new grant program this year for infrastructure improvements. A grant <br />request has been developed for $500,000 to help with the Industrial Park road <br />improvements. <br />3. Working on a transition plan for Economic Development to come under the County <br />Manager. Mr. Crumpton recommended the Board consider hiring an outside <br />facilitator to begin work on a strategic plan for Economic Development in the County. <br />He is prepared to get an RFQ out to prospective companies /individuals who can <br />assist the County with this project if the Board so desires. <br />City Contracts Update <br />1. The City and County Manager have met and are going through City- County <br />agreements. A report will be given at the September meeting. <br />Tornado /Storm Relief Update <br />1. Buchanan Park Update — check received from the insurance company and a bid <br />package for the re- construction of the Park is underway. <br />2. Complaints are being received related to the April tornado. The biggest complaint <br />involves those homes that no work has begun on for reconstruction or demolition. <br />Community Development is conducting an assessment of the areas and trying to <br />develop plans to address each property. General Services is working closely with <br />Community Development in addressing those properties that still have debris issues. <br />This will be an ongoing issue for several months. <br />0 <br />
