BOOK V HIGE 569 <br />unanimous vote. <br />D <br />The Chairman announced that the next item for consideration was the <br />petition of the West Sanford Rural Fire Department requesting the Division of <br />Highways to assist in paving a portion of its property adjacent to the Cumnock <br />Road. After discussion and review, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the <br />adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners recognizes the <br />importance of the services rendered by the West Sanford Rural Fire Department <br />and all the other Fire Departments in Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to <br />cooperate and assist the Rural Fire Deparment in every way possible; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners have received a <br />request for assistance from the West Sanford Rural Fire Department in getting <br />the areas next to the new West Sanford Fire Station paved; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />that it would be in the public interest that this paving be done; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS that the North Carolina Department of Transportation be requested <br />to give assistance to the West Sanford Rural Fire Department by paving the <br />requested area adjacent to the West Sanford Rural Fire Station, and that the <br />cost of said paving be taken from the Lee County Secondary Road Fund. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman next brought up for discussion the proposed resolution <br />concerning a mutual aid compact for water supply emergencies in Region J, North <br />Carolina. By unanimous consent, consideration of this matter was deferred <br />until the next regular meeting of the Board. <br />The fee schedule proposed by the Lee County Board of Health for <br />enbvironmental health services was presented to the Board and reviewed by <br />Mr.Eugene C. Hines, Health Director. Mr. Hines stated that the Board of Health <br />wanted the changes to become effective as soon as possible. Commissioner John <br />R.
