I would ask the reporters here this morning to <br />please share these comments with top management and ownership at your <br />places of employment. <br />I hope these remarks will be taken in the spirit intended <br />and look forward to this sojourn with and for all of you. I thank <br />you. <br />The draft of the minutes of the regular meeting held on <br />Monday, November 21, 1988, was considered. Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews moved that the draft be adopted as the official minutes of <br />the meeting. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted <br />and ordered the minutes be recorded. <br />The Chairman noted that General Statute 109-5 required the <br />Board to examine on the first Monday in December of every year the <br />bonds for the Sheriff, Register of Deeds, and every other officer who <br />is required to give a bond for the faithful performance of his or her <br />office. The Finance Officer reported thatr bonds with Western Surety <br />Company as surety are on file as follows: <br />OFFICE RANGE <br />REQUIRED COVERAGE <br />EXPIRES <br />Sheriff <br />1-25,000 <br />5,000 <br />12-1-90 <br />Register of Deeds <br />10,000-50,000 <br />20,000 <br />7-21-89 <br />Tax Collector <br />Set by Board <br />50,000 <br />7-1-89 <br />Finance Officer <br />10,000-250,000 <br />50,000 <br />7-1-89 <br />The Finance Officer also reported that all County employees are <br />covered by a blanket faithful performance bond with $250,000 limits <br />per occurrence issued by the North Carolina Liability and Property <br />Insurance Pool administered by Fred S. James & Company. Commissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews moved that the bonds be approved. Commissioner <br />William C. Stafford, Jr., seconded the motion and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been carried by a <br />
