BOOK U PIGE 596 <br />General Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, in Region J funds in <br />be used to carry out the economi <br />by the COG Board of Delegates and <br />economy of the counties and towns <br />ening ties to and consequently <br />Triangle Park. <br />the amount of $55,000 will <br />development plan approved <br />especially to improve the <br />of the Region by strength- <br />benefits of the Research <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County <br />requests the release of its $3,625.99 share of these funds to <br />the Triangle J Council of Governments at the earliest <br />possible time in accordance with the provisions of Chapter <br />830 of the 1987 Session Laws (HB 1515). <br />The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stafford and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled that the resolution had been unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Chairman Cox then asked for a report from the County <br />Manager. She reported that she had contacted the Town of <br />Broadway and the City of Sanford concerning the possibility <br />of landfill charges to municipalities. Broadway Mayor Ralph <br />Hunter was very much opposed to the possibility. She has not <br />heard from the City of Sanford. <br />Chairman Cox noted that Public Works Supervisor Bobby <br />Johnson had done an excellent job handling inquiries and <br />setting up the new fee system. He is to be highly commended <br />for his efforts. <br />It was also mentioned that 0. B. Stokes who is a con- <br />sultant for American Refuse Service had discussed the possi- <br />bility of American Refuse Service giving financial assistance <br />toward a study of the waste needs of Lee County. There was <br />also a brief discussion of the merits of recycling. <br />County Manager Fields informed the Board that the <br />vehicles which the Board had approved for sale will be <br />auctioned at 11:00 A.M. on January 21, 1989. She suggested <br />that if Bobby Johnson, Director of Public Works, could be <br />allowed to work with Auctioneer Clint Pickard to come up with <br />a minimum acceptable sale price for each vehicle then all <br />sales could be judged final on the day of the sale. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach made a motion to allow Mr. Johnson to <br />set a minimum sale price. Commmissioner Stafford seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />
