Boa V ?.,GE 623 <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that the present <br />container collection system for waste material was creating some <br />problems because some persons will sell sites and some will only rent <br />and the public is piling debris around the containers which makes the <br />areas unsightly. The Chairman reported that the American Refuse System <br />was willing to make a study regarding the household pick-ups. The <br />matter was discussed but no formal action taken. <br />The Chairman reported that the Trion matter relating to tax <br />relief will be on the agenda for the next regular meeting of the Board. <br />The conflict of the Board's Washington trip and the March 6th <br />meeting was discussed, and upon motion of Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews which was duly seconded by Commissioner William C. Stafford, <br />Jr., it was resolved to change the March 6th meeting to meet on March <br />9th at 7:00 P. M. Upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />ABSENT: Dossenbach <br />NAY: None <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews reported that the Board had <br />been invited to hold one of its meetings at Lee Senior High School. The <br />matter was discussed, following which Commissioner Matthews moved that <br />the meeting place for the February 6th meeting be moved from the regular <br />place to the forum room at Lee Senior High School to convene at 9:30 A. <br />M., February 6th. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />ABSENT: Dossenbach <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />It was authorized that a letter be sent on behalf of the <br />Board congratulating the Lee Senior High School Band for its appearance <br />in the Governor's inaugural parade, and Mr. Ted Sloan who had been <br />invited to help decorate for the President's inauguration. <br />The Chairman read to the Board a letter from Mr. Donn <br />Gunderson, Director of Social Services concerning the surplus food <br />program. Commissioner Wicker noted that more commodities would be added <br />- 3 - <br />
