Boa V ?.,GE 623 Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that the present container collection system for waste material was creating some problems because some persons will sell sites and some will only rent and the public is piling debris around the containers which makes the areas unsightly. The Chairman reported that the American Refuse System was willing to make a study regarding the household pick-ups. The matter was discussed but no formal action taken. The Chairman reported that the Trion matter relating to tax relief will be on the agenda for the next regular meeting of the Board. The conflict of the Board's Washington trip and the March 6th meeting was discussed, and upon motion of Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews which was duly seconded by Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr., it was resolved to change the March 6th meeting to meet on March 9th at 7:00 P. M. Upon a vote the results were as follows: AYE: Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox ABSENT: Dossenbach NAY: None adopted. The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews reported that the Board had been invited to hold one of its meetings at Lee Senior High School. The matter was discussed, following which Commissioner Matthews moved that the meeting place for the February 6th meeting be moved from the regular place to the forum room at Lee Senior High School to convene at 9:30 A. M., February 6th. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: AYE: Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox ABSENT: Dossenbach NAY: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. It was authorized that a letter be sent on behalf of the Board congratulating the Lee Senior High School Band for its appearance in the Governor's inaugural parade, and Mr. Ted Sloan who had been invited to help decorate for the President's inauguration. The Chairman read to the Board a letter from Mr. Donn Gunderson, Director of Social Services concerning the surplus food program. Commissioner Wicker noted that more commodities would be added - 3 -
