BOOK i2 ?eGf 630
desire to make an appointment at this time.
The Board observed a short recess at this time.
The Board next took up the draft of the agreement furnished by the
City designed to cover the furnishing of water to the Golden Poultry project.
The Board reviewed the agreement paragraph by paragraph. Suggestions were made
as to alternatives set forth in the agreement and following the review the
Board entered into a discussion as to whether or not Chairman Cox and
Commissioner Stafford favored discussion at this time of merging the County
water system with the City system. Commissioners Dossenbach, Matthews and
Wicker did not favor merging the system at this time and wanted the priorities
to be placed on getting Golden Poultry supplied with water at the present.
Chairman Cox read to the Board a Resolution which had been adopted by
the Lee County Bar Association, which Resolution was as follows:
BE IT RESOLVED that a comprehensive plan be adopted by the County
Commissioners to alleviate the current inadequacies in both the Lee County
Courthouse and the Lee County Jailhouse to the extent economically feasible,
and the Commissioners are encouraged to utilize the present geographic area
which houses these facilities.
Chairman Cox reported to the Board that he would be meeting with
representatives of O'Brien Adkins concerning the status of the contracts for
the renovation of the hospital building on Thursday, February 9,1989, at 10:00
A. M.
Chairman Cox reported that he had been in conversation with Mr.
George Perkins concerning the exchange of the property across from the High
School with the Lee County Board of Education for the Linden Avenue school
property, but that the matter still had not been completed.
The Board observed a recess for luncheon at the Lee County
Agricultural Building. Following the luncheon the meeting was adjourned sine
die.
Albe- rt T, Chairm n
K. R.
-6-
