a 0 <br />aoo~, V r:QE 653 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 1989 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' <br />Room, on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker <br />Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on Monday, <br />February 20, 1989. Those present were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox; <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; Bertha L. Matthews; William C. Stafford, Jr.; <br />and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Albert L. Cox declared a quorum present <br />and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Albert L. Cox presided. <br />Jr. <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />The Chairman called for consideration of the minutes of the <br />special meeting held on February 1, 1989, and the regular meeting on <br />February 6, 1989. The drafts were discusssed and Commissioner Gordon <br />A. Wicker moved that the drafts submitted be adopted as the official <br />minutes for said meetings. Commmissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted <br />and directed that the minutes be recorded. <br />The Chairman called for consideration of the offer of the <br />City of Sanford to deed to the County a parcel of land on Carbonton Road <br />next to the land leased to the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Clarence Joyner asked <br />to be recognized and complained that he had asked the County to survey <br />the property and that no one would know what land the County was <br />getting. The County Attorney explained that the property had been <br />listed to the Lynn McIver heirs for taxes but actually the McIver heirs <br />did not own the land. The McIvers sold the timber on this property to <br />- 1 - <br />
