0 o0r V 686 <br />employee of the Parks and Recreation Commission, be authorized to <br />operate a small business in conjunction with his wife Linda Groat at <br />their residence in San-Lee Park. Mr. Mc Laughlin reported that the full <br />Parks and Recreation Commission had given its approval to such <br />enterprise at its meeting on February 27, 1989. <br />Commissioner John R~ Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the request of <br />the Parks and Recreation Commission for. authority to allow such <br />enterprise be approved. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews and Cox <br />NAY: Stafford and Wicker <br />The Chairman ruled that the resolution had been adopted by a <br />majority vote. <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. Ronnie Martin, Director of Lee <br />County Youth Services, who gave a report on the renovation of the old <br />nurses home as a youth shelter. Mr. Martin reported the work was <br />proceeding slowly but steadily and they anticipated occupying the <br />structure around the middle of April but the offices probably would not <br />be ready until sometime in may. <br />Mr. Frank Dilworth appeared before the Board of Commissioners <br />on behalf of the Interagency Youth Council and reported that they had <br />some funds to turn over to the Youth Services Commission. Mr. Dilworth <br />also offered suggestions as to how the Youth Shelter could be run <br />efficiently and the Chairman requested that he reduce his thoughts to <br />writing and submit them to the Board of Commissioners in order that the <br />Board may share his concerns with those who would work with the Youth <br />Shelter. <br />Mrs. Mary Hawley Oates, Chairman of the Youth Services <br />commission, appeared before the Board of Commissioners and advised them <br />the Youth Services Commission would present in the near future a program <br />to the Board about how the Youth Shelter would be operated. <br />Mr. Ronnie Martin, Director of Lee County Youth Services <br />appeared before the Board of Commissioners and expressed appreciateion <br />for the valuable services rendered by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews as <br />a member of the Youth Services Commission. <br />Messrs. Ed Fitchett and ~arl S. Stewart, Architects, were <br />recognized by the Chairman and Mr. Fitchett appeared before the Board of <br />Commissioners to give a report on the courthouse-jail project. Mr. <br />Fitchett explained his understanding was that their firm should plan to <br />- 4 - <br />
