FMK 12 f'f '71.6 <br />The Chairman ruled the main motion as amended had been <br />unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman reported he had received material from Mr. David <br />T. Flaherty, Secretary of North Carolina Department of Human Resources <br />concerning the infant mortality task force. <br />The Chairman reported he had received the budget estimates <br />from the State Department of Social Services. <br />The Chairman read to the Board a letter from Mrs. Pam Adams, <br />Director of the Department of Aging, expressing appreciation of <br />contribution made to that Department in the name of Mr. Elwin Buchanan, <br />former Grants Administrator. <br />The Board discussed the method for disposing of surplus <br />property. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the <br />appropriate County officials dispose of the property by absolute auction <br />for both real and personal property which has been declared as surplus. <br />Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote the result was as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously <br />The Chairman reported that the resolution concerning citizens <br />participation in the Community Block Grant Program had been withdrawn <br />and that the request for the Lee County Memorial Commission would be for <br />informational purposes only. <br />County Manager William Cowan recommended that Assistant County <br />Manager's salary be classified from Grade 74 Step 5 to Grade 79 Step 1, <br />and further that Mrs. Fields be compensated in a lump sum payment for <br />the eleven days vacation leave which she lost when she served as Acting <br />County Manager. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. moved that the <br />recommendations of the County Manager be accepted, and that Assistant <br />County Manager Beatrice C. Fields be classified from Grade 74 Step 5 to <br />Grade 79 Step 1, and that she be paid a lump sum payment for the eleven <br />days of vacation leave which she lost while serving as Acting County <br />Manager. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />- 8 - <br />
