6~bK 12 P,(J,-. to benefit from North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service programs; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County board of Commissioners that the seventy-fifth anniversary the Smith-Lever Act and the North Carolina Extension Service of which this County is a part should be commemorated on May 8, 1989. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Mrs. Wilma Winstead was recognized and she appeared on behalf of the Extension Homemakers Club and requested that a Proclamation be issued commemorating National Extension Homemakers Week. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Chairman be authorized to issue and execute the following Proclamation: WHEREAS, The family is the core of society; and WHERFAS,The well being of the family is dependent upon the development of the value system; and WHEREAS, The homemaker has the responsibility to guard the morals and ideals of the family; and WHEREAS, Extension Homemaker club members continue in the education program in cooperation with the Cooperative Extension Service in making significant betterment of family living; and WHEREAS, We recognize this great undertaking; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Albert L. Cox, Chairman, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the first full week in may, the 7th through the 13th as NATIONAL EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS WEEK. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The Board next considered the By-Laws submitted by the Lee County Board of Health. After discussion, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the By-Laws as proposed by the Lee County Board of Health be adopted and approved., A copy of the By-Laws are attached to these minutes and by this reference incorporated herein. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox NAY: None - 5 -
