BOOK 12 74C <br />Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted and the <br />Board to be in executive session. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr., moved that the executive <br />session be closed and the Board resume its open meeting. Commissioner Gordon <br />A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted and the <br />Board to be in open meeting. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the Board employ <br />Mr. Michael Crowell of the firm of Tharrington, Smith and Hargrove to make a <br />preliminary investigation of the voting records of Lee County and of the <br />pleadings filed against the County in the voting rights case to enable the <br />attorney to give an opinion to the County on its proper course of action in <br />the voting rights litigation. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Copies of the statements prepared by the custodial officers at the <br />Lee County Jail who assisted in confining Ms. Donna Zimmerman were <br />distributed to the Board. <br />Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the contract between <br />the County and the Humane Society, copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof, be approved. Commissioner William <br />C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as <br />follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the cost of the contract <br />with the Humane Society be divided between the City of Sanford and County of <br />Lee equally. Commissioner William L. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox. <br />NAY: None <br />-2- <br />
