Doti 12 P~,~ 756 <br />WHEREAS, the said contract bearing the date May 16, 1989, qualifies as a <br />tax-exempt obligation of the County pursuant to the Internal Revenue Code <br />of 1980; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County <br />that the aforesaid contract bearing the date May 16, 1989 by and between <br />Lee County and Southern National Leasing Corporation, together with the <br />amounts to be paid thereunder, be and the same are hereby designated as a <br />qualified tax-exempt obligation of the County for purposes of Section <br />265(b) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986; further that the County <br />Manager be authorized to sign any and all documents to expedite the closing <br />of the loan and the purchase of the computer. <br />Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote the results were: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the Resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Board discussed the matter of selecting an appropriate new name <br />for the former Lee County Hospital building, and it was decided to place this <br />matter on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />It was reported to the Board that the ambulance which was involved in <br />an accident on May 8th is still out of service and is expected to be out of <br />service for approximately one month longer. The main transfer unit, a 1988 <br />diesel ambulance became disabled on April 7, 1989, and because of the nature of <br />the calls and the amount of service required, it creates an emergency for the <br />Lee County Emergency Medical Service. The nature of this emergency is set out <br />in a letter of the Supervisor, Mr. Joel Jackson, dated April 25, 1989, which <br />letter is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that in view of the special <br />emergency involving the health and safety of the people that the bid procedure <br />be waived and the County purchase an ambulance at last year's stated contract <br />price of $32,109.00. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />-9- <br />
