oon V P,,c 758 <br />Commissioner Stafford suggested that the County needs to purchase a <br />FAX machine for use in the County Manager's office. The County Manager <br />reported on his efforts to obtain prices and advised the Board there would be <br />a seminar shortly on the use and models which were available. It was decided <br />to defer consideration of this matter until after the seminar and receiving <br />the County Manager's recommendations. <br />The Chairman called to the Board's attention that they would need <br />shortly to make appointments to the Board of Trustees of CCCC, Mid-Carolina <br />Council, Department of Social Services and the Lee County Planning Board. <br />The Chairman noted receipt of a letter from Sanford Pediatrics <br />Clinic about the need for seat belts in all school buses. The Chairman asked <br />that the receipt of the letter be acknowledged and it was suggested that the <br />letter be forwarded to the Board of Education for its consideration. <br />The Chairman noted that an advance copy of the Sanford Area Chamber <br />of Commerce County Metro Government Study Committee, Phase II Report on Metro <br />Government had been received. The members were asked to study the report and <br />if any major inconsistency exists to please call it to the Committee's <br />attention. Commissioner William C. Stafford noted that he had completed his <br />review of the report and was ready at this time to move that the County <br />support the concept set out in said report. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, <br />Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled that the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered the matter of pay for the Board of <br />Equalization and Review.The County Manager reported on the compensation <br />provided in adjoining counties and the matter was discussed at length. <br />Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. moved that the pay for members of the <br />Board of Equilization and Review be set at $100 per session, and that a <br />suitable provision be made in the budget for the fiscal year 1989-1990. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Cox <br />NAY: Wicker <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a majority vote. <br />The Board next discussed the employment of an assistant for the <br />County Manager, and the Board authorized the Manager to advertise for someone <br />-11- <br />
