900K i~ P„,; AS <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, submitted the preliminary plan <br />of the Oakwood Corner Subdivision located at the intersection of Pilson Road <br />and Hancock Road. Mr. Barefoot reported that the Planning Board had recommended <br />approval of this plan. Commissioner Gordon a Wicker moved that the preliminary <br />plan be approved. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote the results were: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Barefoot then presented a road petition requesting the paving of <br />the Johnson Cemetery Road. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews moved that the <br />petition be approved and forwarded to the Division of Highways for its <br />consideration. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />Chairman Cox recognized Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker for his <br />recommendation concerning the Department of Aging's bid proposal to Triangle J <br />Council of Government for Federal and State funding. Commissioner Wicker <br />reported there was some question whether Lee County would receive the $35,000 <br />in Senate Bill 1559 funds. This prompted a general discussion of the nutrition <br />site programs. Chairman Cox instructed the County Manager to discuss with the <br />Director of the Department of Aging how many citizens are being benefitted by <br />these nutrition programs, and whether Lee County is conforming to the intent of <br />the Federal guidelines for such programs. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the Board authorize and direct the Chairman to execute and submit the bid <br />proposal prepared by the Department of Aging. Commissioner William C. <br />Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />It was noted that if Lee County does not get approval of the Senate <br />Bill 1559 funds, the matter will be brought back up before the Board for <br />discussion. <br />Chairman Cox recognized Assistant County Manager and Finance officer <br />- 6 - <br />
