V 784. <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />Of <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />For <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 1989 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 P. M. on Tuesday, June <br />6, 1989, in the Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, the same being the time <br />and place specified in the motion of adjournment. Those present were: <br />Commissioners Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., Bertha L. Matthews, <br />William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum <br />present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Albert L. Cox presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The request of Avondale Mills for a public hearing about refinancing <br />of industrial revenue bonds was scheduled for 8:00 P. M. June 26, 1989. The <br />Chairman noted at the outset that the Board would adjourn this meeting to" <br />reconvene on Monday, June 12, 1989, at 10:00 A. M. <br />The Board discussed at length the matter of administration of its <br />tax offices, the appointment of a tax administrator to supervise the Office of <br />Tax Collector and Tax Assessor. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. moved <br />that Mr. Nathan Crissman be appointed to be Tax Administrator, effective July <br />1, 1989. Commissioner Albert L. Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />The bill for the sandblasting of the County Office Building was <br />presented to the board and discussed. The board noted there was damage to some <br />of the limestone and it was decided that Chairman Cox and Commissioners Wicker <br />and Dossenbach would investigate the matter on behalf of the board. <br />County Manager Cowan reported that the air-conditioning unit which <br />- 1 - <br />
