aooK 12 mrsrL 793 <br />the public hearing was open. <br />Mr. Tommy Mann, Sr. appeared before the Board and spoke in behalf <br />of the request made for Triangle South, Inc. Mr. Mann's position was that he <br />saw good things for the area and thought that Triangle South, Inc. would <br />contribute to the economic growth of the area. Mr. Harold Ausley was <br />recognized. Mr. Ausley stated that he was Chairman of Triangle South, Inc. <br />and he reviewed the aims and purposes of the organization. Mr. Jackie H. <br />Stephenson, President of Triangle South, Inc. also appeared before the board. <br />Mr. Stephenson spoke on the mission of the organization. Mr. Hal Siler, <br />Director of the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, spoke in support of the <br />Triangle South, Inc. request for funding, and stated he did not believe that <br />they were in competition with the Chamber of Commerce but supplemented their <br />activities. Following Mr. Siler's remarks, the Board observed a short <br />recess, after which they resumed their public hearing with all members in <br />attendance. <br />Mr. Clyde Rhyne was recognized and Mr. Rhyne spoke in opposition to <br />the size of the budget and concluded that the budget was getting out of <br />control. <br />Mr. Donn Gunderson, Director of Social Services, spoke on behalf of <br />his Department and its need for funds for computer terminals and to avoid <br />staff cuts in order to meet the needs of the public. <br />After everyone who desired to be heard had been heard, Commissioner <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved that the public hearing on the budget be <br />closed. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted and <br />the public hearing closed. <br />The Board next considered the tax releases and refunds for the <br />months of March, April and May. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. moved <br />that the releases and refunds enumerated in the Tax Supervisor's reports for <br />the months of March, April and May be authorized and approved. A copy of the <br />reports is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part <br />hereof. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />the results were as follows:; <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />- 4 - <br />
