As required by Chapter 195 of the 1989 Session Laws, certified <br />true copies of this resolution shall be filed with the Secretary of State, <br />Supreme Court Library and Legislative Library. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Cox <br />NAY: Wicker <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been adopted by a majority <br />vote. <br />Mr. William K. Cowan, County Manager, reviewed with the Board the <br />report from King Roofing & Manufacturing Corporation as to the status of the <br />roofing project at the Lee County Courthouse. <br />A resolution requesting the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners to bring to the attention of the North Carolina legislature the <br />fiscal crisis facing many counties and arising as a direct result of continued <br />demands created by mandated but unfunded programs was presented to the Board. <br />It was decided to table consideration of this resolution at this meeting to <br />allow Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. to investigate the matter and to <br />report back to the Board his findings at its July meeting. <br />County Manager Cowan presented to the Board a letter from Mr. Larry <br />Smith complaining about the conditions of roads on Live Oak, Red Oak and White <br />Oak Drives. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker requested that the letter be sent to <br />the Department of Transportation Division of Highways for their consideration. <br />Commissioner William C. Stafford seconded the motion and upon a vote the <br />results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously adopted. <br />Assistant County Manager Beatrice C. Fields presented to the Board a <br />copy of the City of Sanford's Ordinance concerning peddlers. The matter was <br />discussed, following which the Board referred the matter to the County Attorney <br />for his report and recommendations to be received at the July meeting of the <br />Board. <br />County Manager Cowan stated that County officials needing <br />Identification cards to enter the Emergency Management Headquarters, can have <br />their pictures taken and cards prepared at the Board of Education. The County <br />Manager was requested to arrange for this to be done at the July meeting of <br />the Board. <br />-19- <br />
