eav 12 r. 840 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />Of <br />THE BOARD OF ComMISSIONERS <br />For <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />MONDAY, AUGUST 7, 1989 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 o'clock A. M. on Monday, <br />August 7, 1989, in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street; Sanford, North Carolina. Those <br />present were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox; John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; Bertha <br />L. Matthews; William C. Stafford, Jr.; and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman <br />Albert L. Cox declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman Albert L. Cox presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Attorney K. R. Hoyle. <br />The draft of the minutes for the regular meeting held on July 10, <br />1989, was reviewed and considered. The Chairman called for corrections, <br />deletions, additions, or amendments. None was forthcoming and the Chairman <br />ruled the draft had been adopted as the official minutes of said meeting <br />and directed that they be recorded. <br />The Chairman announced that the next item would be the report <br />from the Courthouse and Jail Study Committee. Before calling on the <br />Committee, the Chairman made the following remarks: <br />In an attempt, on part, to get back to a level playing field and in <br />response to the 8 4 89 Sanford Herald Article, let me say that the <br />Sanford Herald could have saved a long distance telephone call had they <br />demonstrated the patience to wait for their 3 P. M. scheduled informal <br />assembly with Board members and our consultants. We were not in a <br />'closed-door session' as the 8/4 article stated. It was open to <br />-1- <br />< A <br />
