e3os 12 <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />The request of the Wake County Veterans Council for the County to <br />purchase a flag pole and accessories to be installed at the outer perimeter <br />of the capitol grounds which will be identified as given to the people of <br />North Carolina by the people of Lee County was discussed. Commissioner <br />Bertha L. Matthews moved that the County appropriate $50.00 for such <br />purpose. Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman requested that Departmental Reports be signed by the <br />responsible official before they are distributed to the Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />The Chairman requested Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. and <br />the County Manager to review the emergency medical services policies and <br />procedures. <br />The Board reviewed the Departmental Reports included with their <br />agenda package and the Chairman reviewed the official mail he had received <br />since the last meeting. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. was recognized and he <br />expressed the opinion that the proposed bond issue for public buildings to <br />include courthouse and jail facilities was, in his opinion, not going to <br />receive voter approval. He proposed that the voters be given an option as <br />to the site. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews was recognized and she stated <br />that she preferred only to build the jail at the present time. <br />Commissioner William C. Stafford, Jr. stated that he agrees in principle <br />with Commissioner Dossenbach and offered a motion for consideration by the <br />Board. Mr. Stafford's motion was that the voters be allowed to state a <br />preference as to whether they wished to stay at the present site or to move <br />to the site on the Colon Road, and that the bond issue be reduced to 10 <br />million dollars. Commissioner John R. Dossenbach seconded the motion. <br />The Board began a discussion of the motion and Commissioner Bertha L. <br />Matthews offered a substitute motion to do only the jail, and that it be <br />built at the present site on Horner Boulevard.
