Poop 12 rs 853 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />Of <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />For <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 1989 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 P. M. on Monday, August <br />21, 1989, in the Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present <br />were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., Bertha L. <br />Matthews, William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Cox <br />declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of <br />business. <br />Chairman Albert L. Cox presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Attorney K. R. Hoyle. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board proceed to <br />hold a public hearing on the revisions to the Lee County Flood Damage <br />Prevention Ordinance. Commissioner William C. Stafford seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />AYE: Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford, Wicker and Cox <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted and <br />declared the public hearing open. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, was recognized. Mr. <br />Barefoot advised the Board that the Federal Emergency Management Agency had <br />completed the delineation of several creeks throughout Lee County, and has <br />published new flood insurance maps for Lee County. The publication of <br />these maps requires that the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance be modified <br />to include specific language reflecting the fact that these flood way areas <br />have been delineated. The recommendation was that the Board adopt the <br />model Ordinance proposed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and <br />this would bring the local Ordinance into compliance with the National <br />Flood Insurance Program Rules.
